Meet Melissa Mor
Melissa is our next Bliss'd Mindful Mama! Melissa lives in Atlanta, Georgia and is a mom of three - a 2, 5, and 8 year old. Melissa is the founder of a company I think many moms will love - Mrs. Push, a site dedicated for gifting moms and moms-to-be with the most beautiful jewelry (buying a gift for yourself counts too!) Melissa and I are in two founder groups together, which is how we connected : ) Read on for my interview with Melissa.
What is your definition of self-care? Has this changed since becoming a mom?
Taking time ALONE! Lol.
What does your self-care routine look like? Feel free to share small practices you do regularly and/or a set routine (morning, evening).
Self-care looks different every day depending on my mood. I love red light therapy time, going for a walk, sweating it out in my infrared sauna blanket, journaling & online shopping.
Do you practice mindfulness? If so, how?
I try to! I journal when I have the time. I usually write out what I want to manifest as if it's already happened. When I look back on these journals years later, usually most things I wrote about have come true. I also try to be intentional with my time, when I go out or am with my husband/kids, I put the phone away and on airplane mode.
What's a "mindful mama" tip you have?
At the end of every day we do a "pit & peak" of the day. Yes I stole that from the Kardashians but my kids love it. It gives them a chance to reflect on their day.
What is your favorite self-care activity for when you have… 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 60+ minutes?
5 minutes - Red light therapy
30 minutes - Higher Dose sauna blanket
60+ minutes - Long walk with a podcast (I'm obsessed with business/health/fashion podcasts)
What are your top 3 - 5 self-care and/or wellness products?
- Matcha. It's probably my favorite thing to have. It's become a morning ritual. After school drop-off when I'm home just with my 2 year old before we start the day!
- All my Cymbiotika Vitamins- I take many of their vitamin packets & my kids do too so that's another am ritual
- Red light therapy device- I usually take 5 minutes every other day to shine it on my face & thyroid & gut.
- Cleaning & organizing my closet. I love clothes & fashion so am always going through what I don't 100% love anymore to donate & make room for the new. Physically & energetically.
- Journaling but now I need to try yours!
Motherhood can be overwhelming! How do you center yourself when you’re feeling stressed, anxious or overwhelmed?
Put away my phone, put on a healing frequency on YouTube or listen to a motivating podcast.
What is a tip you have for a mom interested in self-care but unsure how to start, or she feels overwhelmed with the idea of fitting it in?
Even 5 minutes a day makes a difference. Start with that and work your way up. Can be a short meditation, journaling etc.
When do you feel your most bliss’d out?
On the weekends when my phone is off. I keep my phone off Saturdays for religious reasons & it's usually my fave day of the week.
What's a mama mantra you live by?
Trust your mama intuition!
