Small habits compound into big change over time - who's with me?! If you're looking to add more healthy habits to your self-care routine, start with one of these! Pick the one that resonates most for you right now and give it a try for a week. Notice the positive impact (even if subtle) it has on your mental wellness. Email me after 😀
Drink water when you first wake up
Keep water by your bed to make it easy in the morning, or on the counter if you don't like ice cold water first thing in the morning!
Put your phone in a different room when you go to sleep
This has made all the difference in my sleep because it provides a buffer between bed and phone, ensuring the phone isn't the last thing I see before bed - or first thing in the morning! (note, I'm human, this doesn't always happen - if I'm sick or just out of my routine - and I can say that I definitely notice a difference in the quality of my sleep if my phone is in the room vs out!).
Alternate between hot and cold water in the shower (or just cold if you can brave it!)
Research has shown that cold water can boost your immunity, improve circulation and increase your metabolism. If you run hot at night, a cold shower can help cool down your body before bed (while it's not the most comfortable - getting into your cozy bed afterwards sure feels nice!)
Journal out your thoughts
Writing out your thoughts and feelings (like in our journal, Time to Reflect) can reduce stress and anxiety and improve your mindset. I journal before bed and I love the mind release it provides, especially if I'm feeling anxious or have a running mind.
Don't look at your phone first thing in the morning
This is another thing I'm working on (and another reason I love sleeping with my phone in a different room)
Read before bed
Or write. Or draw, or talk... find a relaxing (non-tech, if possible!) related activity to calm your nervous system before you hit the hay.
Use the do not disturb feature on your phone
This has made a positive impact on my productivity! I already disabled app notifications and this takes it another step by helping me get less distracted from group texts, etc.
Write down your daily gratitudes
When you focus on the good, the good gets better : )
Make your bed
This is a small thing that can make a big difference in how you feel!
Is there anything you'd add to the list? Share below, I'd love to hear!
