This book takes you on an unforgettable journey with David Elliot Cohen and his family (including three young kids!) as they travel around the world for an entire year. What makes this story even more captivating is that it happened before the days of Instagram and travel influencers, which is so refreshing and also, hi to the original Bucket List family! It's raw, authentic, and incredibly inspiring. As someone who's always dreamed of doing a big adventure like this, this book showed me it's possible. Reading about their (wild!) adventures, I couldn't help but dream about my own potential travel escapades. This book showed me that with a bit of courage and planning, it's possible to break away from the conventional path and explore the world in ways I never thought possible. It's truly one of those life-changing books that makes you see the world differently.
2. Good Vibes, Good Life by Vex King
Vex King's book is like a warm hug for the soul. It's an easy read, yet packed with actionable steps to improve your life. King shares his personal experiences and wisdom on how to cultivate positive thinking, self-love, and inner peace. I got through this book quickly and appreciated the tangible steps throughout. Overall, the book reinforced my belief that our mindset shapes our realities and that by focusing on expressing our emotions and living authentically, we can create a life full of joy and fulfillment. Among the life-changing books I've read, this one stands out for its practical and uplifting guidance.
3. Bending Reality by Victoria Song
I love this book as a deep dive into the science and art of creating the life you want. The author combines cutting-edge research with practical strategies to help you tap into your potential and make your dreams a reality. This book expanded my mind by challenging my preconceived notions about what is possible. It encouraged me to think bigger, dream bolder, and take tangible steps towards manifesting my goals. 4. The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter
Michael Easter's "The Comfort Crisis" is all about stepping out of your comfort zone and embracing challenges. He argues that doing one major mental and physical challenge per year can profoundly impact your life. And I can attest to that — I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2012 and it was a life-changing experience that pushed me to my limits (in the best way possible). What I loved about how this concept was presented in the book was how it can be totally adaptable to you and your current life circumstances — climbing mountains doesn't make sense in this stage of my life but there are other things I can do to expand my limits and resilience (and it doesn't have to be extreme). This book inspired me to seek out and tackle new challenges, knowing that growth often lies just beyond the edge of our comfort zones. In the realm of life-changing books, this one stands out for its call to action and personal growth.
5. 10% Happier by Dan Harris
Dan Harris's journey from a skeptical news anchor to a mindfulness and meditation advocate is both hilarious and enlightening. "10% Happier" is his candid account of how he discovered the benefits of mindfulness and meditation, mixed with a healthy dose of humor. This was one of the first relatable books I read on mindfulness and meditation (back in my early days!) and it taught me that meditation isn't just for monks or yogis; it's accessible and beneficial for everyone and doesn't even have to be done sitting still. Harris's story made me realize that even small changes in how we approach our thoughts and emotions can lead to a happier, more balanced life. I love how this book uniquely combines humor with insights.
